NHS represent

1) What does BAME stand for?Black,asian and minority ethnic.

2) Why is there a need for blood in the BAME community? We need blood from all ethnicity to decrease the percentage of deaths per year.

3) What does this advert want people to do once they've seen it ('call to action')?The call to action means that it can save someones future.

4) Why is the advert called 'Represent'?It is called represent because it is towards all communities and all ethnicity.


5) Why have the producers chosen famous BAME celebrities to feature in the advert? Give an example of three well-known people who appear in the advert and why they are famous.Lady Leshurr features in this video because she is very well known to do this as this is not the first time doing these type of things.Kanya King is featured in this because she is the founder of MOBO (music of black origin).Ade Adepitan is featured in this because he is a well known disabled basketball player which shows that you can be anything you like even if you are disabled.

6) Why is there a slow-paced long shot of empty chairs at the end of the advert?The three empty chairs represent the 3% of people donate blood.The slow pace of the video wants you to think that you should get up and go donate blood.

7) How does the advert match the key conventions of a typical rap music video?The advert matches the key conventions because Lady Leshurr because she raps about what you can be when you are older.

8) How does the advert subvert stereotypes? Give three examples (e.g. ethnicity, masculinity, femininity, age, class, disability/ability etc.)This advert subverts many stereotypes as people would represtsent disabled people as useless and not worth living.


9) How does the advert reinforce certain stereotypes of the BAME community? Could there be an oppositional reading where some audiences would find this advert offensive or reinforcing negative stereotypes?In this advert asian people are represented as very smart because he was as doctor and was wearing glasses.
