OMO

1) What year was the advert produced?
The omo advert was made in 1963.
2) How were women represented in most adverts in the 1950s?
In the 1950s womens were represented as house cleaners and they had make the food allready for their husband when they come from work.
3) How does the heading  message ('OMO makes whites bright') and typography promote the product?
This quote 'OMO makes whites bright' shows that they should use omo because it is a luxurious washing powder.4) Analyse the mise-en-scene in the advert (CLAMPS): how is costume, make-up and placement of the model used to suggest women's role in society?

5) Why is a picture of the product added to the bottom right of the advert?They have added this because they want promote their product.

6) What are the connotations of the chosen colours in this advert?The use of these colours connote that they want to give advertisement a old look.

8) What representation of women can be found in this OMO advert? Make specific reference to the advert and discuss stereotypes.The representation of women in this poster is that she is happy because she is using her faviourte washing up powder.

The producers of this item will be happy becuase he want the audience to think that OMO is one of the washing up powder. 

10) What is the oppositional reading for this advert - how might a modern audience respond to this text and the representation of women here?
The oppositional reading for this poster would be that it very rude to say that THIS WILL SHAKE YOUR MOTHER.
